Maritime Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) Implementation Committee
In New Brunswick and Nova Scotia the SFI® Program is managed by the Maritime SFI Implementation Committee (Maritime SIC). The committee is made up of interested stakeholders, respective provincial Department of Natural Resources and SFI program participants that operate facilities, manage timberlands or procure wood fiber within those provinces.
The committee meets four times annually to promote the development of the SFI Program and to facilitate a response to maritime wide implementation issues, which include:
- Review Inconsistent Forest Practices public hotline complaints (1-800-631-3657);
- Coordinate the implementation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) on private land.
- Build Information packages for private woodlot owners and contractors; and
- Review SFI forest worker training criteria.
